[And before he can answer that she adds:] Keep in mind my closet is three fourths the size of your tank.
[Considering that her entire profession revolves around measurements and proportions there's an incredibly slim chance that she's exaggerating. Thanks to how rarely Boxer visits her apartment the epic depth and range of her closet has remained a general secret. Between that, her drafting table and work supplies ... Nariko takes up a lot of space, and Boxer's only got one room, right?]
I was going to ask how you felt about finding a bigger place for after the wedding, just so it didn't feel rushed.
[But she'd obviously expected to be able to stay in her own place while they looked for something together, so the overall plan is basically wrecked anyway.]
this most recent attempt has been going well so far
[His place doesn't have many rooms, but it's pretty spacious for an apartment--he needs it to be, for obvious reasons. So technically her stuff could fit if they didn't mind having boxes just standing around in the corners and against the walls.
But they do, so.]
Do you think you'd be able to figure out how much you need around for--a year or so? Put the rest in storage while we're looking for a place to get together. Just a temporary situation.
[Maybe kind of weird given how mercurial she is about what she wants to wear but ... She can suck it up for one year, especially if they get the place of their collective needs and dreams. That, and it'll be nice to actually live with her boyfriend-almost-husband.]
I do need at least two formal dresses, my drafting table ... I could use the basic work kit instead of the advanced one I have now, or maybe Zeke would let me rent out his shop ... [She breaks out into a big grin.]
I'll look into storage places tomorrow!
we should have boxer run into chris when he comes over to help her pack
We can move some stuff around here to make room for a workspace.
[Right next to the sliding glass door he uses to get to work! The couch'll have to be closer to the TV but that's okay. And she still has most of a closet to work with! ...unless she's taken it upon herself to help him fill it with his own clothes. And probably whatever of hers has accrued there over time.]
There's a few just outside of Bayside. [It's too built up around here to have space for, well, space, but once you get to the lesser dense areas they can afford it.]
I was literally thinking the same thing, high fives
[There are definitely clothes in his closet but probably not so much that his entire closet is filled - it's probably at about the halfway mark, so there's maybe some room for her, especially the dresses that can't be folded. They'll be able to make it work, even if she has to buy a dresser or something.]
Mm, of course there wouldn't be any nearby. [She kisses her favorite lil' spot on Boxer's jaw before tracing a path up one side of his face, back down again, and then properly kissing him.] I love you, and you're the best, and your face is nice.
[One more kiss.]
And we're gonna live together.
[It might be for a shitty reason but it's such an exciting thing.]
If I'm cute it's because you've made me that way, and it's the second best thing in the world. The first thing is that you love me and I get to love you back.
[She can't seem to stop kissing him, and while it's true that her good moods tend to overflow naturally this is more along the lines of a flooding dam.] Now, if I remember correctly we still haven't made up for all that lost time just yes ... [And she's definitely in the mood to get to work!!
Putting in notice for her apartment won't be hard, but requesting a restraining order sort of it. Still, it seems to stop most of the phone calls and texts, and by the time she's packing up a lot of her stuff to go to storage, Nariko isn't very worried about anyone harassing her. Thing is, her drafting table is the biggest thing she has to move, so while she's kinda sorta done most of it on her own she needs his help to move the thing from one place to the other.
Which means that she's sprawled out on her bare mattress while a relatively tall blonde man paces just outside of her door.]
You know what? Wouldn't argue with that placement at all.
[He's eagerly kissing her back now, and he lets out an excited, throaty noise when she makes the direction she intends to go in apparent.
At her apartment, he thinks things will go well. He's in high spirits while he bundles up the pieces of her workspace that she dismantled ahead of time, and he balances the table itself up on his shoulder with a single arm--not a feat most humans could pull off. He navigates back out of her apartment while humming a tune in fragments; so imagine the picture of a giant kraken-man opening the door to Nariko's apartment and carefully crawling out of it to lean the desk top against the wall to leave it there while he goes to get the other pieces.
But he pauses because someone is there; someone he assumes is one of the other tenants of the apartment building, but they maintain an awkward eye contact for much longer than what would be necessary for just someone passing by.]
[He looks Boxer up and down, and there's the slightest hint of distaste in his expression, it intensifies when he sees what Boxer is carrying. It's definitely Nariko's stuff, which means she's definitely moving and this guy is ... Part of the crew or something, he's assuming.]
Yes, actually, is Nariko in there? Nariko Lunae.
[He's already moving as if he'll somehow get past Boxer's massive body. Chris is a solid six feet and two inches with a fair amount of muscle but he's no magical hercules, and certainly not a monsterkind.]
[Oh, he does not like the way you move, buster. Boxer leans his shoulder against the doorframe, casually resting his hand on the opposite side of it. Given that he can just barely fit through it to start with, it's not hard to block it up entirely.]
You can turn around and tell her that I want to talk to her.
[If he hadn't already been told to, y'know, not come into the building or come within five hundred feet of her, the apartment, or her office then he could use security as a threat. Taking a deep breathe Christian visibly attempted to calm himself.]
Look, I'm just her boyfriend, and I need to clear something up with her.
[A bold-faced lie, but he's clearly trying to relate in some sense, which just makes it all the more ironic.]
[It wasn't as if Christian hadn't wondered - for the longest time he really had thought it was some elaborate lie to keep him away. Nariko could be dramatic at times, but the longer the whole thing went on the more he had to accept that she was at least dating.
But a fiance? And he's a ...]
No. Nariko wouldn't date a ...
[He's practically dying to say the words but he manages to hold it back by the skin of his teeth.]
[Boxer's face is humorless. Which is not a good sign, because his neutral expression kind of looks like he's ready to kill anyone on a moment's notice.]
[Christian Scott Kennedy does not possess a sense of self-preservation, so it's probably a good thing that Nariko's rested up from all the packing and she's understandably surprised to see Boxer in the doorway. It kind of looks like he hasn't left yet.]
Hey, handsome what's -
[Hearing her voice Chris shifts his attention, trying to look over Boxer which is ... Not going to happen.
What the fuck could you possibly want me to talk about?
["Why the fuck you're getting married, for one! We were on a break!"]
Getting your stuff out of my apartment, changing the locks, and taking you to court is not indicative of a break!!
[If the situation wasn't what it was, if it involved anyone else it .... Might be kind of funny since they're effectively arguing from respective sides of the wall Boxer makes.]
You know, there are few things more unattractive to women than not taking 'no' for an answer. If you're gonna move on, I suggest you start practicing it.
[Seriously, even if it was a break, this desperation was not going to do any favors for him.]
["I don't need to move on, what I need is for you to get the hell out of the way you goddamn mo-!"]
Say one more word and I'm going to beat your skull into the fucking hallway, Christian!
[Boxer is seriously in the way here. Now he isn't just keeping Chris where he needs to be, he's the only thing stopping Nariko from vaulting over and throwing a punch.]
[Chris ... Stops, as if he hadn't expected to be asked a question in such a calm tone. His expression shifts from disgust to irritation and then settling on confusion.
"I-" It takes a lot of mental work to get the words to come out, relying on the anger had been much easier than using words like an adult. "... It was four years. How do you just fall out of love like that?"
And, of course, that wasn't how it happened. Boxer and Nariko's relationship has spanned closer to a full year if not utterly exceeded it, so a lot of this is based on assumptions: That Nariko wouldn't actually move on, that she would sit around and wait for him no matter what happened. There were situations that explained his line of thinking, but none of them justified the behavior.
The woman in question has at least stopped trying to crawl up Boxer's side, she's just listening]
[Come on...a guy that won't even eat her out, and he thinks she fell out of love that quickly? He feels like it's a blow below the belt, so he doesn't say anything.]
She needed you to pull through for her...and you rejected the offer. If you felt you needed a break before getting married, I don't think she fell out of love right then and there.
sorry about the long tag waits...been trying to get jerb
...Why don't you move in with me?
[Why would she bother getting a new place when they're getting ready to tie the knot??]
obtainment of the jerb is important, I understand friend I will cheer you on from here
[And before he can answer that she adds:] Keep in mind my closet is three fourths the size of your tank.

great minds, etc
[He's grinning but trying so hard not to as he moves his face in the directions that expose it to her affections the best.]
How can a grown woman be so cute? You're gonna give me cavities.
[It's not a shitty reason! It's natural progression!]
tiiiime skip here if that's chill
[She can't seem to stop kissing him, and while it's true that her good moods tend to overflow naturally this is more along the lines of a flooding dam.] Now, if I remember correctly we still haven't made up for all that lost time just yes ... [And she's definitely in the mood to get to work!!

Depends on who's asking.

That's none of your business. Now move.
[No 'please' necessary. Who the fuck was this asshole? It wasn't as if she needed a damn bodyguard.]

I'm sorry, but Nariko has expressed that she'd be left alone. Can I take a message?
[She hasn't, actually, but she seemed pretty content lounging about on that bed, being left damn well alone.]
