It's bad enough that he knows he's in trouble--the shrill alarms are just a grating annoyance on top of it. It's a miracle he's made it this far in a damaged ship, or even to the destination he'd intended in the first place. That much is the good news--the bad news is that there's no way to land safely, considering half of this ship has been blown clear off.
No way to slow down either.
He lets out an exhale. It's okay. He's a Diamond, he can survive this, even if it might hurt like hell. His eyes close, going slack and bracing for impact as he enters the atmosphere that immediately bends flames at the edges of his ship, turning the outer shell molten red hot.
The impact could be felt miles away. The carnage buries itself in a deep crater, exposing rocks and leaving the grass at the edges blackened and singed.
Black Diamond is surprised when he can open his eyes again, but it's only for long enough to take in the wreckage and his immediate surroundings. Earth at last, huh? He lets out a coughed laugh and reaches out, reaching out and digging his fingers into the ground so he can push himself back up...but he finds more resistance than he was expecting, and the metal creaks over him. Oh, that's fine--just pinned to the ground, right? When he goes for a second attempt, he watches the edges of his arm fizzle and crackle sharply.
Oh, great.
One more attempt to push himself up reveals that a large chunk of what looks like the thrusters that sheared off the front of the ship has imbedded itself in his midsection.
"Figures," is all he manages to get out before his form disintegrates into light, leaving a marquise-cut black diamond in its wake, resting amongst the rubble.
